Great Ending, Horrible Middle!

By: Tommy “Tj” Sotomayor

Snapshot 1 (8-21-2014 5-26 PM)

Like me, Don Lemon believes that there is no reason for a person to be allowed to go on talking if what they started speaking of in the first place if flawed.  But like many, some people think that what they have to say matters more than what is logical and true.  I love Talib but I want you guys to watch this and tell me whos side where you on!

So after watching this, please be honest, tell me how you think these two men handled this situation?

I feel like the problem is that we are way too emotional when we sppek when we should be way more logical!

There was no need to try and check Don on how he was looking at his phone because like he said, he was at work but there also was no need for Don to keep jumping in when he saw it was frustrating him.

Lastly, Talib says he was upset that he was being interrupted yet after that he kept interrupting Don so it was just another example of when we dont have fathers in our lives this is how we interact with each other but It was so great that at the end they didnt have beef.  This is where I am in life, I still argue when I shouldn’t but I want to be like them in the end and shake hands on it.

Problem is, like these niggaz that stalk me, they dont just move on from a disagreement, they become scorned lovers and maybe just maybe Tariq & all of the other dudes who claim they dislike me can look at it this way, either agree to disagree like adults or just move the hell on!  What are your thoughts?

P.S. Both of these guys follow me on twitter and I am a big fan of both but I was really disappointed with Talib for threatening to walk off over something as simple as a clarification and then doing exactly what caused him to threaten to walk off.  We as men have to be fair in our dealings with each other!

I saw the interview. I think that when Talib was ready to give some facts based on what he witnessed, Don should have let him speak. Yeah, Talib was emotional and angry. I would be too, if a diversion was set up to prevent me from speaking the truth. What Don did was the classic “change the subject”, speak over the guest, create a debate, argue the dumb points, etc. Remember who Don works for, he has to answer to Wolf Blizter. Now check out who Wolf represents/and who he works for.

I peeped that too. DL shouldn’t have been trying to argue what another person is witnessing and maybe that’s a double-edged situation, but it’s cool that it was all respect at the end.

At least there was no name calling and neither of them were in each others face. The only thing I got out of the piece (didn’t see the whole interview) was that they did end it with respect. That normally doesn’t happen when there’s a difference of opinion.

Hey Tommy, Tariq moved on.. Maybe not his fan base or your fan base, but what was done is done.. Stop stoking the fire and let it die out.. What happened with you and Tariq happens in inner cities dwellings, suburbs, low income areas and well to do(wealthy) neighborhoods whether black or non-black people.. If you two don’t talk again, nobody gives a shit, believe me they don’t.. You both have a different message, and your both doing your own thing.. If I was your boy, and fortunately I’m not, I’d have to tell you to, “stop crying like a baby” and “keep it pushing homey”.. You feel me..

It was embarrassing and discomforting to watch.. Real estrogen charged.. I think they both coincidently watched the mud fight between Tariq Nasheed and Tommy Sotomayor before they commenced with the interview in Ferguson, MO..

Disagreements can turn hostile these days,,dang. Don is doing his job as a journalist. But as soon as Talib brought up white supremacy,,seems like Don went into defense mode. They don’t want to hear that conspiracy mess.

As men learning to agree to disagree is winning a large part of the battle. Logic dictates that what is a big problem today will be very small 2-3 years from now. Why fight, argue life is too short.Keep it rolling, TJ

If you listen 18 secs into the interview, Don Lemon gets Talib Kweli’s name wrong.. Was that done on purpose..? He even had the nerve to call him a raptivist.. LOL.. I think that got Talib a wee bit perturbed and irritated, if not psychotic.. He should of known better dealing with white power with a black face, namely, Don Lemon..

HAHAHA..!!! After 4:22 of squabbling, my man, Talib wants to argue adamantly about who said hi first.., and the rules of etiquette when greeting someone for the first time.. WOW..!! It went completely off topic has to what he was doing in MO in the first place.. He might as well of stayed home in Brooklyn.. I guess he wanted to exemplify on national television what the New York City attitude is all about..

Why do we men forget how testosterone works? We are quick to say whenever a man get emotional that it is estrogen or being like a women. Do people not watch sports? They had a heated argument being men but when it was all said and done they handled it. As men situation will arise but it is how things are ended and a level of composure you don’t lose.

Neither one really lost man points and I think what Don was trying to let Talib know to some degree is that I have someone I am answering too that does not want you to speak at all and I am giving you the courtesy or wrapping this up. Talib and Don are in different positions of the same fight. Talib can’t fight it like Don nor Don like Talib

It takes multiple positions to field a team and we black people(men especially) need to remember that.

Why is Don Lemon trying to argue with Talib Kweli when he says “the media’s been doing a bad job of making sure these stories get out in the right way”? He basically has a “nuh-uh!” moment. I thought it was a reporter’s job to get information out of people, not sit there and argue with them. If Talib Kweli was wrong, let him talk, and then when he gets done, point out where he was wrong. This just lets you know that reporters/journalists like Don Lemon are in it for self-glorification more than getting facts out.
And on the slapping hand, Talib Kweli was acting like a chick with hurt feelings. “You didn’t greet me properly? You asked me how to pronounce my name?” I hate to burst bubbles, but Talib Kweli, people don’t just know him like that. His biggest album was Eardrum back in 07 and his biggest single was Get By back in 03.

This goes to show you why these types of unjust acts keep happening to us…we cant even speak to each other to get our points of view across before they are interupted and shot down..which makes one get emotional…how are we gonna come together and overcome the problem at hand when we cant even communicate properly?! this is one of the main issues with the so called black comunity..there is no community…(common) (unity) thats why the so called white race is doing what they do to us bcuz they know they got us confused on some which way did he go George which way did he go???

The interview was going good.. at first. I believe they were both kinda in the wrong. I say that because NOTHING can be heard when voices are raised it just create more chaos. That’s something we don’t need. A respectful conversation about things on both sides would be complimentary.

The fact of the matter is that the reporter did not have to speak to him at all. He did talk about the protest and about what HE saw. I guess I am the only one that noticed that he said respect and disrespect many times and the dead 18 year old’s name once. That reporter was very respectful. I am not sure if that was live or not. If it was live I would have continued. If it had not been live then when he said he was leaving the second time I would have thanked him for the interview and ended it. It would not have talked to him for one more minute. That guy is not the only witness that was there. The reporter had already talked to others and could have to someone else. He acted like that reporter owed him something.

I love Talib and I believe that as a reporter when you ask a question let the question be answered, then address the content you believe to be false, one sided or skewed. He should have let Talib finish his point. Talib was right when he said he had a minute plus to talk and Don spoke all day. Not taking sides but I think Talib was very passionate about pointing out what CNN wrote to be false from his perspective and it seemed that Don didn’t want to let him finish. Talib let his passion get the best of him. He shouldn’t have turned his back on Don that was disrespectful but at a time and place like Ferguson tempers flare and people make mistakes or let their feelings get the best of them. I do think Don should have taken a few seconds to greet Talib. I was brought up in a very strict household where you looked people in the eye to greet them and shook their hand very firmly. So it seemed the interview started off badly in Talib’s mind from the start.

Talib is just doing what you did Tommy, when you had your conversation with that other guy I said you won, he would not let you finish our answer your questions. Now Don did the same thing, cut himoff in mid sentence.

Wow that was intense I couldn’t even finish watching the interview because of how disrespectful talib was being toward this anchor. I like talib and he definitely has a point but his delivery went totally left. As an adult no I mean a grown ass man you should never be rude to another grown man he wouldn’t like it if he was spoken to in this tone. Very distasteful.
