Look Out White Man…

By: Tommy “Tj” Sotomayor

Snapshot 3 (8-21-2014 11-16 PM)

So, what happens when an innocent white man is just minding his own business when the cops decide to taser him for absolutely no reason?  Well that was the question one of my facebook followers was as asking!

They wanted to know why is it ok for cops to Taser their own citizens like a florida man named Roy Sherman who was only trying to give the officers information about his Autistic son.  Well take a look

So wait a minute, this guy actually wasnt some innocent victim that the big bad cops attacked?  Yep, thats how it looks.

Now look, I am not trying to act like the cops dont do dumb stuff but lets not try to act like they treat whites the same way as they do blacks.  Its coming but the day has not come yet because well they got to get rid of blacks first but the man straight up lied to get sympathy!

If this had been a black man we all know how it would have ended because we have all seen how it has ended.  The cops had every reason based on the past few days to use lethal force but they didnt!  They gave this man every chance in the world to be an idiot and he took everyone of them!  Now below is the video given to us by the sherrifs dept of their version of events!  Take a look!

If we are going to be fair minded then lets do it on all sides.  I try my best not to hide truth and tell lies especially when people can get hurt from them.  This man was playing on public sentiment that the cops are dirty but in this particular case, it was the citizen who was wrong.  He unlike most blacks though, got a chance to tell his side of the story, no matter how wrong he was.

Oh, can someone tell me why there was a dash cam video here but there wasnt one for the fight that Mike Brown so called had with the cop in ferguson?  I mean let me know why we can have all of the info and the cops come out to try to cover their a$$ when a white man is involved but they arent releasing any info about the Mike brown situation other than that he was a bad dude!

Also, Cop watch was very irresponsible for not only going along with a story that they didnt vet, but putting it out and asking for it to go viral!  This is not the way to be a trusted source but then again, how many people are trying to be that?

Snapshot 2 (8-21-2014 10-23 PM)

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is responding to a video circulating online that shows a deputy using physical force and a stun gun on the father of a driver being pulled over.

[Watch: Raw dash cam video]

The video shows Roy Sherman arriving at the scene of where his son was pulled over by a Marion County deputy for speeding.

In the video shot by Sherman’s son in the car, he is heard telling the deputy that his son is autistic.

The deputy tells Sherman to leave, and Sherman is heard refusing.

“All I wanted to say is he’s autistic,” Sherman is heard saying.

“Get out the vehicle, you’re under arrest right now,” the deputy replies.

After an edit in the video, the deputy is seen trying to physically pull Sherman out of his truck, and Sherman is seen resisting the deputy’s attempt.

After another edit in the video, another deputy is seen using a stun gun on Sherman, who eventually falls to the ground.

“Florida Cop Watch” pushed the video on its social media platforms, claiming the deputy assaulted the father simply for trying to tell him that his son was autistic.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies disagree.

Deputies gave Local 6 an unedited copy of the deputy’s dash cam video, which caught the audio of the entire incident, including the holes left in the video posted.

You can hear Sherman using foul language in talking to the deputy, and refusing to get out of his truck for more than four minutes before another deputy arrives as back up.

“In the recent case involving our sheriff’s deputy, the video placed on-line and on social media is significantly edited and altered for the simple purpose of creating the appearance of abuse where none existed,” explained the sheriff’s office on its Facebook page in a post yesterday evening.

Deputies say the video edited out segments that show Sherman hitting the accelerator of his truck, dragging one of the deputies a short distance.

They say another segment that was edited out should show Sherman trying to punch one of the deputies.

They also say after Sherman was taken in custody, he apologized to the deputies, saying he didn’t know what he was thinking.

The video was posted by Florida Cop Watch, a self-proclaimed police watchdog group based in Marion County.

The letter below is from my fb friend who wanted me to be oh so upset about how this white man was treated!

From Mr. Sherman, a resident of ‪#‎MarionCounty‬‪#‎Florida‬:
“On 5-18-14 I received a call from my 22 year old autistic son. So I immediately got in my truck and went to where my son was being ticketed. As I drove up on the right hand side of the road adjacent to my son’s car, I did not leave my vehicle, I kept it running. The officer turned around and asked “can I help you?” I said “I’m his father.” The officer yelled at me to leave the premises. I stated “I’m his father, and just wanted to tell you he’s autistic.” He turned around and said, “Leave or you’ll be arrested!” He started walking towards me and said “you’re under arrest.” I said, “for what?”, I kept saying over and over all I wanted to do was tell you he’s autistic. He just replied, “you’re under arrest.” But I was sure I hadn’t broken any laws. This was when I said, “no I’m not under arrest, I haven’t done anything.” I was still sitting in my truck with the door closed when another officer drove up. The other officer opened my passenger door and proceeded to climb in and push me out. As I came out, I was standing in front of the officer, and he grabbed me and tried to throw me on the ground. When I didn’t fall down he tased me (and I have heart trouble). I went down on my knees, then both officers jumped on me and slammed me into the pavement. They handcuffed me laying on the ground and put the taser to my lower spine and tased me four more times. I was put in the police car and taken to jail, where I posted bond.”

I’ll hazard a guess that shift commanders all across America are telling their subordinates not to be as quick on the draw when “peasants” are “resisting” or “disrespecting” or “interfering” due to the protests in Ferguson and their noteriety.

Nah, “Contempt of Cop” is enforced just as strictly still (BTW, contempt of cop is not a real law and usually gets charged as disorderly conduct, PI, resisting arrest, interfering with a public official or anything an inventive cop can come up with and lie about later if he thinks he wasn’t video taped or sometimes even if he was – who you gonna believe, your lying eyes and the video tape or this nice officer?).

Tommy, I live in Marion county and I remember being pissed when it all went down. I even called and emailed MCSO demanding Porcelli to be prosecuted. Eventually Marion County set the record straight by releasing 29 minutes of footage from Porcelli’s dash cam, and I watched the whole thing. Unfortunately, we can only hear the incident in question because it takes place out of the dash cam’s view.

Roy Sherman’s overreaction is obvious, and you’ve already done a great job pointing it out. But I believe Porcelli overreacted first and here’s why:

Roy Sherman pulled up while Porcelli was nearly finished issuing a ticket to the son. Roy Sherman then proceeded to tell the cop his son is autistic. I believe if Porcelli would have simply said, “Yes, thanks for telling me he’s autistic; I’ll take care of him. Now go about your business,” then none of that stuff would go down because the conflict would have been quashed. However, the police force in this country escalates situation needlessly, and dumb shit like this happens as a result.

BTW, I agree with one of your last points….had Sherman been black, then they would have been pulling out bullets instead of taser prongs.

    Keep up the good work!

He still did not do anything wrong.. It is not illegal to sit and watch the police do their job, he did not have to leave.

You can be arrested and prosecuted for “interfering with police”. The man interrupted the policeman, he wasn’t just sitting there watching quietly. He had to open his big mouth because it is HIS son and he probably thinks HIS son should get special treatment because he is AUTISTIC. He is driving just like the rest of us, no? And getting pulled over like the rest of us.
So what his son is autistic. If he is that protective or scared for his son, he should not let his son drive. He had no reason to interfere with the stop.

He was justifiably fearful since the mentally disabled and handicapped get injured and killed at a far higher rate than the rest of us (other than black people and blacks who have mental issues at the highest rate of all). He did it poorly, but it is the Cop who are supposed to be trained professionals and not royalty or aristocrats to be obeyed unconditionally. Oh, and his son is an adult at age 22 so he can’t prevent him from driving.

well, at least the department attempted to fill in some of the holes, even though their version of “the rest of the story” (Paul Harvey?) isn’t 100% either. if he can call backup to snatch the man out of the truck, how come he couldn’t call it to see what he was talking about concerning his son? they say, the deputy tries to reach in and unbuckle the man and that’s when the man draws back to punch him, resulting in the taser being deployed. then he was pulled out and arrested. but in the video, the taser wasn’t pulled and used until after he was out of the truck. seems like both the deputies and the man escalated the situation unnecessarily.
which kind of brings up the question…how do you go about an arrest or detainment that you think is unlawful? you can’t really resist, because you will get your ass kicked AND charged with resisting arrest on top of whatever charge they were going to hit you with in the first place. Or do you comply and go thru the whole process of being booked and bail and court and fines and all that?

Tommy, if I could apologize for that white man .I would! He made it seem like the police attacked him ,but never mentioning that he sat there and harassed the police before they even got to the point of tasting. I hate Liars! iI am truly ashamed that a white man would try to even make this accusation.
And if his son is truly Autistic then why is he driving at all.????????!

Because cops are not black or white, they are blue. Cops, most cops, talk about non-cops as “civilians” like they are military (they are not, they are para-military) and somehow better or different or not subject to laws like “civilians”.

Besides, he was no angel, he has warrants out (but the cops who shot him had no idea).

Also because cops are often aggressive, violent and even criminal. They just do it to white folks a lot less than black folks (but they do do it to whites as well, especially poor and uneducated white folks – because they can usually get away with it and they feel like it).

If you’re autistic and can’t handle being pulled over DO NOT DRIVE.
    Problem solved.

So done with people exploiting their speshul snowflake cards.

I can remember being stopped and questioned by the cops and I automatically put my hands on top of my head . they asked why I said cause I don’t want to be an accident they laughed . whether I’m guilty or not my job when detained by the police is to come away alive and kicking

Isn’t it sad that modern cops have become a bunch of unstable freaks operating on a hair trigger that we have to act like they will throw a toddler’s tantrum with the slightest effort?

Long past are the days when it was respectable to be a cop in America.

Nah, there were always cops like that, we just didn’t have video on our phones to record it so most folks (especially white folks) didn’t believe it.

@Proantithesis – You got it just right. Sherman was fearful, agitated and stupid, but just because the officer says he is interfering (parking on the other side of the road and observing the officer doing his job IS NOT interfering, nor is giving him one piece of information that might be useful) doesn’t mean he is actually interfering with a traffic stop. He was on the other side of the road and he had the legal right to observe the stop (if he had only known that and asserted his right and shut up, he might have been OK).

You are correct that the stop was technically done and the only reason they had to chase the son was that Porcelli put his ticket book on the son’s car. Porcelli escalated the issue by saying the father was interfering and committing a crime. That is debatable, but the real crime the father committed was “Contempt of Cop” which can be dangerous for blacks or whites.

BTW, if Sherman had been black it isn’t 100% sure they would have been pulling out bullets and not prongs, racist cops love Tasing black people too, but the odds ARE higher. Just because there are racist cops and lots of institutional racism in most law enforcement agencies (especially in the South, but again, not exclusively) doesn’t mean that there isn’t a serious problem with aggressive and criminal police for both white and black people. It happens to both, I’ve seen it myself, experienced some of it too, however, it IS TRUE that it happens far more often to blacks and other minorities. BTW, police statistically are also more aggressive toward young folks and women as well and there are cases where the police even raped the woman who called 911.

We have a serious problem in our country with police who buy into a command and control mentality and are trained mainly in the use of violence to control situations and who do not believe the laws they supposedly enforce apply to them (just pay attention to the police who speed, use no signals and run lights and stop signs with no lights or siren on a regular basis and ask yourself if they don’t think traffic laws and their own policy and regulations apply to them, do they think more serious laws do?). Video will help, but people need to stand up and vote for politicians who will demand police accountability and vote out the bums who allow this to go one and appoint police leadership that ignores or even supports violent and criminal officers and the blue wall of silence.
