Tony Stewart, Nascar Champion, Bad Boy, Pitch man and a lot of other names that are on his resume.  Well after Saturdays race, you can now add killer to the list!

At a dirt track in upstate NY, Tony Stewart become something that no one really wants to be if they want to remain free as well and that is a killer of another human being.  Tony after wrecking fellow driver Kevin Ward Jr came back around the track only to see Kevin pointing and yelling at him at the place he wrecked.  What happened next was a shock to everyone watching!  Watch

OK, lets be perfectly clear… Kevin Ward’s actions was idiotic and just plain stupid!  He had no reason to get out of the car and then to run onto the track weaving through cars to try and argue.  Even he felt Tony wrecked him on purpose, it was stupid of him to get on the track and now his life is over because of it!

Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor and this young man will never get a chance to correct the mistake he made in trying to challenge a man that was still in the car but as for Tony, he should have not stepped on the gas and they were under a yellow caution which means that most cars slow down anyway.  Tony was trying to be a prick to the young man and spin out in front of him which ended up sucking Kevin underneath the car tire and throwing him about 15 feet in the air basically killing him instantly!

Nascar needs to stop drivers from exitiing their cars to contront each other on the track and the penalty for such actions should be swift and severe!  This was a senseless murder and for those wanting to talk about this please call into my live show tonight starting at 9p-2a 347-989-8310!

(CNN) — NASCAR driver Tony Stewart hit and killed another driver who was walking on a track during a dirt-track race in upstate New York, authorities said early Sunday.

Kevin Ward Jr., 20, died from injuries suffered in the incident, which occurred Saturday night at the Empire Super Sprints series event at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

The track is about a two-hour drive from Watkins Glen International race track, where Stewart had been scheduled to race in a NASCAR event Sunday.

“There aren’t words to describe the sadness I feel about the accident that took the life of Kevin Ward Jr.,” Stewart said Sunday, according to a written statement tweeted by NASCAR. “It’s a very emotional time for all involved. … My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

Stewart’s team director Greg Zipadelli said Sunday morning the driver has decided not to drive in the event.

“Our hearts go out to Kevin’s family,” Zipadelli said. “This is a very tough, very emotional time for everybody — his family, our family at Stewart-Haas Racing.”

On Saturday night, Ward’s sprint car hit the outside wall during lap 14 of a 25-lap race, Ontario County Sheriff Philip C. Povero said.

A video of the incident shows two cars coming out of a turn with Stewart’s No. 14 car sliding up the track toward Ward’s No. 13 car. The two cars get close and appear to make contact before Ward’s car hits the wall and spins out. Another car narrowly avoids hitting the 13 car as its sits on the track facing the wrong direction.

Ward gets out of his crashed car, walking on the track toward the race cars, which had slowed for a yellow flag. Ward points a finger and appears to be yelling. One car swerves to avoid Ward on the half-mile dirt track.

Stewart’s car passes close to Ward, and it appears that its right rear tire hits him.

An ambulance took Ward to a hospital, but he died before it arrived, Povero told reporters.

“Stewart has fully cooperated” with an investigation, Povero said. “He acknowledges the collision with the driver.”

Povero said it appeared to an on-track incident.

“But I want to make it very clear, there are no criminal charges pending at this time,” he said.

Ward, from Port Leyden, was in his fifth season in the Empire Super Sprints series. He began racing when he was 4 years old, running go-kart events.

Stewart’s spokesman said they are trying to sort out the details.

“A tragic accident took place last night during a sprint car race in which Tony Stewart was participating,” Mike Arning said. “Tony was unhurt, but a fellow competitor lost his life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”

A competitor, which runs the car that swerved around Ward, expressed sympathy.

“Our deepest condolences go to the entire Ward Family. We are one huge ESS family, you will be truly missed bud! #RIP13,” Hebing Racing tweeted.

Stewart is a three-time champion in NASCAR’s top division and also won a sprint car championship in 1995.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and fellow competitors of Kevin Ward Jr.,” NASCAR said in a written statement Sunday. “We support Tony Stewart’s decision to miss today’s race and we will continue to respect the process and timeline of the local authorities and will continue to monitor this situation moving forward.”

Regan Smith will replace Stewart on Sunday, Zipadelli said.

Stewart also owns a dirt race track in New Weston, Ohio, and has frequently raced sprint cars during the NASCAR season. He broke a leg last year in a crash that ended his racing season. He has raced the full NASCAR season this year, but only returned to sprint cars in July.

I think it was unintentional and unfortunate which could have been prevented if the driver didn’t walk on the track where cars go as fast as at least 150 mph.

This is the last straw for Tony, he got somebody killed, he is not gonna race again. NASCAR will be committing financial suicide if they allow him to race again, because white folks knows how to boycott.

NASCAR isn’t gonna go belly up if they let Tony race. The only person who will keep him from racing at this point is himself. Sponsors, depending on what comes of the investigation could ask for him to step down, but outside of that, I wouldn’t count on much.

The majority of NASCAR fans probably don’t know much about dirt track racing, so outside of what has been publicized in the news, haven’t heard dick about it.

I keep hearing most drivers don’t like tony, that he’s a big bully on the track pressing your buttons like he did to the young man, sadly the young man lost his cool and then his life. I’m not saying we should stop bullying, but in a dangerous environment, it should be limited.

1st rule never get out of the car during a race..that being said …Tony should get some kind of negligent homicide charge ..or involuntary homicide charge.

Tommy, believe it or not Dale Earnheart is a hero to folks and guess what, he invented Tony Stewart’s aggressive “dirty” style of racing. Not only that, it’s part of the sport. But yes, Ward definitely died because he was a dumbass getting in front of a speeding car trying to be a tough guy. No different than some thug or beastie talking shit and squaring off with someone they know has a gun, then getting killed while trying to initiate a confrontation they clearly could have/should have avoided.

Tony should get banned from Nascar for good and get jail time and I agree with Tommy that 20 year old kid caused his own death why he risk him self going on that track with 100+ mph cars racing should wait till the race ends to confront him R.I.P. youngster

I often scratch my head at comments like these. You say tony should be banned, yet are placing what appears to be 100% blame on the other driver. I don’t think a driver should be banned because of the actions, or lacktherof of another driver.

Rather than stay in his car, or even get out of his car and get off of the track, he decided to WALK INTO TRAFFIC and got turned into Grade A, USDA-approved roadkill. I don’t feel sorry for this guy, or his family, or anyone who knows him. He might as well have put a gun in his mouth and blown his own head off.

The angle of the video shows him walking (from our view) straight into traffic at ferocious speeds, how could they possibly stop. Strange though, the one who wrecked him killed him.

Tommy was just saying last week in another video that u gotta start letting these young people know they are NOT invincible. That include white boys NOT just bastard sons of single mothers

Stewart should be charged at least with Involuntary Manslaughter.. However.. Kevin Ward Jr shouldn’t have thought he was FROGGER & left his car to get on the
track. The assistance people were coming to check on you, duh.

Just because you think he should face charges criminally doesn’t make it so. Tony Stewart is just as much responsible for Ward’s death as Ward is, it is incredibly unfair of you and the public at large (as has been the case the past few days) for people to be placing 100% blame on Stewart. You can’t determine intent from watching 20-30 seconds of video.

There are several factors that come into play. You eluded to one of them, and that is the fact that he got out of his vehicle. I’ve watched prolly 20 different news reports, and read 30-40 articles on this accident.

Other factors cited as coming into play (whether you or anyone else agrees) is clothing (a lot of drivers were wearing dark colored firesuits), and lighting. The lighting at the track was pisspoor at best one report stated, going on to say that they’ve seen better lighting at high school football games. Just because to us it looks like it was malicious, doesn’t make it so. We can slow the footage down and play armchair racer all day saying “he could have missed him” or “I could have stopped”. To truly understand this accident, people need to understand the particular car they were racing in, and how it works, and from what I’ve read, and listened to, they don’t. These cars tail end kicks out when on the throttle which is how they go around the corners like they do. A tragic accident, but one man can’t possibly shoulder all the blame for it, and shouldn’t face charges on it.

The kid should not have left his vehicle simple as that, it was obviously a mistake he made in the heat of the moment that unfortunately he will never get to learn from. He was only 20 years old and we all know at 20 you do some stupid shit no matter what enviroment you are in, there is an argument that maybe he just shouldnt have been on the track if it was thought even possible that he might do it but then maybe Tony stewart wouldnt have been out there either, at this time i dont think that anybody but tony can know if he meant it or not but with his history it has to be taken into consideration.
