But Why You Mad Though?

In a story that can only matter here in the USA where maybe we have too many damn freedoms, NFL free agent quarterback Carson Wentz sparked an immense backlash as he posed next to a dead black bear during his hunting trip in Alaska.

The former Super Bowl-winning quarterback said he completed a “bucket list” item when he hunted a black bear with a bow and arrow.

“Got the opportunity to spot and stalk black bear in one of our new favorite places on earth— Alaska!” Wentz posted to the Wentz Bros Outdoors Instagram account he shares with his brother Zach.

“Incredible trip and an incredible animal,” the brothers added.

The Wentz brothers aren’t hunting rookies, sharing some of their kills to the Instagram account which features ducks, bucks, and turkeys.

Black bear hunting is legal in Alaska, as long as the state’s hunting regulations are followed.

While Wentz, 30, who last saw action in the Commanders’ Week 17 loss to the Browns, was pleased with his kill, not everyone was happy with the former Eagle.

“Hope next time (the) bear wins and you lay down,” one Instagram commenter said.

Incredible animal so you kill it?? Makes sense,” another user said.

“That’s just awful! I can’t believe you killed a bear for sport. Changed my whole perspective of you,” a third person added.

“We know your football career is over, so you have to do another thing for a living. But this is not the way! Respect the animals, the nature. It’s not for your fun.”

“Killing for fun. Glad the Eagles dumped you. Focus on getting better at throwing the ball than your “bucket list,” another commenter said.

Not everyone was against the hunt as Wentz’s quarterback counterparts applauded the brothers.

“Holy s–t man! Need a taste of em,” former Commander’s teammate Taylor Heinicke said.

“Well done. Congrats,” former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler added.

Wentz was released by Washington in February and since has been studying film with Jon Gruden in hopes of another NFL comeback.

During the 2022 season, Wentz appeared in eight games, starting seven the fewest of his career, as the Commanders chose to start Heinicke after Wentz struggled, threw for 1,755 passing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Wentz isn’t the only former Super Bowl champ to take down a big anima as ex-Bronco defensive end Derek Wolfe killed a mountain lion in January that was “wreaking havoc in a rural neighborhood.”

Wolfe was called upon to stalk the “giant tom” (male mountain lion) and after taking down the big cat, had the meat processed and ate it.
