I have no idea why black chicks love fighting but this sh*t is getting insane when a 14 year old girl is stabbing people and killing them over silly beefs!
ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – An Atlanta family says a new mom was murdered while she was trying to pull an attacker off her younger sister outside their home.
A teenager was charged with felony murder on Monday after 19-year-old Talela Stevenson died from a stab wound to the neck.
Police responded to reports of a person stabbed in the 3600 block of Venus Place around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, they found Stevenson lying in the driveway. She was transported to Grady Hospital for treatment but died from the injury.
Police identified the stabbing suspect as 14-year-old Jashaunte Marshall. They say Marshall stabbed two people and fled after a large fight broke out.
A man, later identified as 18-year-old Garry Banks, was also transported to Grady Hospital with a stab wound to his arm. According to an incident report, he was “alert, conscious and breathing.”
Witnesses told police there had been an ongoing dispute between the parties over the last couple of weeks. Police have not yet said what issues fueled the altercation.
Stevenson’s family told CBS46 News the victim ran out of the house to break up a fight after her younger sister was attacked in her yard by the suspect.
They said after she was stabbed, her older sister tried to save her by holding pressure on the wound. The victim is a new mother who recently gave birth to a child in August.
Stevenson’s sister, Mya Stevenson said Talela just gave birth to a baby girl named Riley on August 12.
Mya said her sister will never have the chance to see her baby grow up.
“She can’t see her talk, can’t see her walk and somebody took that from her,” Stevenson said.
She added that she does not understand how a 14-year-old could be so violent.
“For you to be young how can your mind even do that?” she asked. “How can you come out here to hurt somebody like that? I just hope she gets what she deserves, my sister needs justice.”
The family also told CBS46 News that Stevenson was recently accepted into a nursing program at Atlanta Technical College.
“She was going to make sure her daughter had a future, she was going to be the one to do that,” Stevenson said.
“She was focused, she was turning everything around and I just wish I had more time with her.”
The family has set up a GoFundMe account. Donations will go toward funeral expenses and caring for Stevenson’s baby.
Marshall is being held at the Fulton County Youth Detention Center.
