Police have identified a suspect in the murder of a woman shot in the face outside a Bronx bodega.
Amere Bryant, 24, is wanted for allegedly fatally shooting 36-year-old Shaquana Button in front of the Candy and Grocery 24-hour bodega on East 149th Street in Mott Haven on Monday night, police said.
An argument between Button and Bryant began inside the bodega around 11:30 p.m. and spilled out onto the sidewalk, where Bryant pulled out a gun and shot her in the face before fleeing, authorities said.
Relatives told the Post on Tuesday that Button’s mother died “the same way” in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, in 2004, when she was shot in the head at the same age as her daughter.
“She went tragically like her mother,” said Button’s aunt Dawn, who would not give her last name.
A homeless man who fatally shot a Bronx woman in the face during an argument more than a year ago is finally in cuffs, cops said Wednesday.
Amere Bryant, 25, was nabbed late Monday and is now facing murder, manslaughter and gun possession charges for shooting 36-year-old Shaquana Button following an argument inside a Mott Haven deli.
“It broke my heart,” said Ruth Mitchell, Button’s aunt. Her sister — Button’s mother — was also shot to death at age 36.
“It’s just such a relief,” Mitchell said of the arrest.
“The day after that happened, he was already a prisoner — in his own mind,” said Button’s uncle Louis Reed.
Police said the two got into an argument inside the Garden Express Deli on E. 149th St. near Jackson Ave. about 11:30 p.m. The fight was caught by the deli’s security camera, and when it spilled out onto the street, Bryant pulled a gun and shot her.

Her family and friends still don’t know what the argument was about — they heard that it may have been over a cigarette, or because one of them cut the other in line at the deli.
“Every day I still talk to Quana as if she’s here, because it’s just what we do. Every day, 10 o’clock in the morning. I just talk to her out loud,” said her close friend Denisha Warren.
She says she just feels “relief” that Bryant was arrested. “In a whole year and a month and 12 days, yesterday was the first night to get some real good sleep. I’m just glad.”
Bryant fled the city and ended up hiding out some 20 miles away from the murder scene in Valley Stream, L.I., police sources said.
Members of the NYPD’s Violent Felony Squad tracked Bryant to Long Island and took him into custody without incident.
“The defendant admits to firing one shot,” Bronx Assistant District Attorney Sarah Schmidt said at Bryant’s arraignment Wednesday night. Judge Tara Collins ordered him held without bail.

A group of about eight supporters yelled “We love you” and “We still love you” as he was led from the courtroom. They declined comment after the arraignment.
“She went tragically like her mother,” said Button’s aunt Dawn, who would not give her last name.
