PHILADELPHIA — Hundreds of thousands of dollar in donations have come in through three fundraising efforts to support those impacted by the fire in Philadelphia that took 12 lives and displaced others.

The fire killed eight children and four adults early Wednesday morning in Philadelphia’s Fairmount section.

As investigators look into the blaze, the community is standing up in support of the decedents’ family and the tenants who lost their home in the fire.

Three verified GoFundMe campaigns have raised nearly $318,000 total as of Friday afternoon.

One campaign was set up by Andrea Bronson to support the family members of the 12 victims.

“Today, we are asking for help to assist the parents/grandparents with final arrangements with any additional funds going to resources for the two survivors,” Bronson wrote. “This has devastated our entire family and we are humbly asking our community for assistance.”

As of 2:30 p.m. Friday, about 4,800 people have donated more than $245,000.

A separate GoFundMe was established for the father of the lost children to help him cover medical bills from burns sustained in the fire.

Organizer Tim McAdams said the father also recently underwent heart surgery and was released from the hospital the day before the fire.

“This GoFundMe has been created so that when Howard is released from the hospital, he can spend whatever amount of time he will need to grieve and then heal from the trauma of losing his home and children,” McAdams wrote on the page. “The funds raised will be given to Howard to spend as he sees fit.”

About 1,000 people have donated nearly $52,000 to that effort as of Friday afternoon.

The third fundraiser is supporting the folks who lived in the first-floor unit of the property.

Debra Jackson set up the GoFundMe page to help her sister Yvette Woods. Woods lived in the unit with her daughter and three grandsons and lost everything in the fire, Jackson wrote on the page.

“Donations will be used to replace items that were lost to help rebuild their lives,” she wrote. “And what ever else they may need for everyday living.”

As of Friday afternoon, nearly 300 people have generated more than $21,000 for Woods and her family.
