FLINT (WWJ) – A jury has convicted a 28-year-old Flint woman of killing the father of her child last year.

Ladora Snell on Tuesday was convicted of second degree murder for the Sept. 29, 2012 death of 24-year-old Mack Hill Parrish, IV. She faces up to life in prison when sentenced on Dec. 3.

According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, Snell had gone to Parrish’s home in the 6900 block of Yorkshire around 9:30 p.m. to pick up their child. After getting into an argument with Parrish, prosecutors say Snell got into her car, backed up, directed the vehicle at Parrish and then accelerated.

After striking Parrish, Snell paused for a moment and then ran over his body. Snell then went inside the house, grabbed her child, got back into her car and left.

Evidence at trial indicated that Snell called several people after the incident, but never dialed 911. Parrish was transported to Hurley Medical Center where he died two days later. Snell later turned herself in.

“This was not an easy case but, I am pleased with the verdict of second degree murder,” Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement. “Special Assistant Attorney General Barney Whitesman and Flint Police Sergeant Jason Cate and others did an excellent job in preparing the case and presenting it to the jury.”

Snell’s attorney, Jeffrey Clothier, said they plan to appeal the decision, adding that his client was acting in self-defense at the time of the killing.
