The Tulsa Police Department released dashcam footage of the pursuit of most wanted suspect Madison Dickson. Police spent days looking for her, saying she’d been involved in several shootings, including shooting a man in the head. The video shows a woman who was determined not to be taken into custody, even when she was surrounded and there was no hope of escape. Police said her family had even warned them she would not be taken alive. Police said Dickson immediately took off running when the short pursuit came to an end on March 18 near 89th and South Harvard. The video shows she turned not once but three times and pointed a gun at the officers. They fired shots but did not hit her, so the officer closest to her in his patrol car, ran into her to stop the threat. Dickson later died.
Police said Dickson had shot a man in the head just two days before, after she asked him for a ride, then pulled a gun on him and tried to steal his car. Police said he’s recovering. Before that, they say she’d fired shots at a Walgreens and a Best Buy plus pointed a gun at movie theater employees. Police said they believe Dickson got connected to the Irish Mob gang and started a crime spree. Her family and friends said this was not the girl they grew up with. They said she got hooked on drugs, tried to get clean but that failed and things went downhill for her. Three police officers remain on routine leave until the criminal and internal investigations are complete. The district attorney will determine whether the use of force was justified.
TULSA — The family of a wanted woman who was killed by police over the weekend is speaking out about their loved one.
For Madison Dickson’s family, mourning has been difficult.
Her aunt, Kim McBroom, says she can’t help but wonder what went wrong with a girl who had her whole life in front of her.

“We’re sorry to all the families or anybody that she hurt. And we’re praying for them,” she said.
An embattled life, now lost forever.
Victims are recovering, and her family is shattered.
“Drugs happened this week. She had changed her way of life,” said McBroom.
McBroom said they tried to save her until the very end.
“She was a happy, fun, great hearted kid…loved animals. She was just happy – a happy person,” she said.
A happy and normal kid.
But the signs of drug use started when she was a teen.
She entered a slippery slope she tried to overcome herself.
“She chose on her own two years ago to make a change in her life,” McBroom said.
And it worked…for a while.
Until this week when police say she obtained a gun and started associating with possible members of the Irish Mob.
“Madison has never done anything like that. I mean I knew she was on drugs but never with gangs or the gun…I thought they had to have the wrong person,” McBroom said.
Now that Dickson is gone, her family tried to understand the unthinkable.
They hope their loss will help other families save lives before it’s too late.
“I hope that if anybody gets into drugs, then help them. The first sign you see… help them,” said McBroom.
The officer involved in Dickson’s death is on routine administrative leave with pay.
McBroom said she forgives officers on the scene that day, saying she knew they had a job to do.
