A woman in Louisiana has been arrested after authorities allege she plotted to abduct a baby from a children’s hospital.
According to arrest documents obtained by WAFB, Dinesty Selmon cased Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge for weeks — going as far as to obtain an access card.
Selmon, 21, eventually found a 9-month-old boy in one of the hospital rooms without his parents, so she read his medical chart.
The suspect allegedly told her boyfriend that she had a baby while out of town and the baby was receiving care in Baton Rouge. Authorities said the baby Selmon tried to take was in intensive care.
Officer Darren Ahmed told WAFB, “She even took the young man (her boyfriend) to the hospital to visit with several doctors in hopes to schedule false or fictitious medical appointments for the child.”
When the boyfriend went to the hospital he noticed the name on the door did not match the name Selmon gave him, so he grew suspicious.

He took his concerns to a family friend who is a nurse. The hospital was then notified of the apparent breach shortly thereafter.
Selmon, her boyfriend and his family returned to the hospital, and they were met by security. Selmon showed her ID and she was kicked out of the hospital after surrendering the access card she is accused of stealing.
