A Louisiana football player has shown up with what is arguably one of the most ridiculous names ever given to a child!
A Louisiana high school wide receiver has emerged as a contender for the best name in football.
De’Coldest Crawford, a sophomore at Green Oaks High School in Shreveport, went viral last week after speaking to a local media outlet about the upcoming season.
Crawford explained the origin of his unique name during an interview with Jordan James of 247Sports.
“My mom came up with my name,” Crawford said. “She named me this because she knew I would be the best athlete out of everyone in the family.”
He’s been enjoying all the attention the name has given him, too.
“I love the fame everyone’s giving me on social media, keep it going,” he said.
Crawford, who’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 145 lbs, caught 18 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns last season, according to MaxPreps. He’s reportedly received offers from Southern University and Southern Miss.
If you think something is nice, you might say, “That’s cool.” But if you think that thing is the best of its kind, then you might say, “It’s the coldest.”
That is the reason a Green Oaks High School (Shreveport, Louisiana) wide receiver went viral after an interview earlier this week. His name? Decoldest Crawford.
The sophomore wide receiver did an interview with KTAL to preview the upcoming season for his team, but once Twitter users saw his name flash across the screen that quickly became the topic of conversation. Multiple national media outlets wrote about Crawford’s unique name or made a post about him on social media.PAID FOR BY HEWLETT PACKARD ENTERPRISEWhy You Need Everything as a ServiceBy 2020, consumption-based IT procurement through “as-a-service” models will have eclipsed traditional procurement. So where did the idea for his name come from?
“My mom came up with my name,” Crawford told 247Sports. “She named me this because she knew I would be the best athlete out of everyone in the family.”
One of the greatest football names EVER!
Crawford, listed at 6-foot-1, caught 18 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns last season, per MaxPreps. Green Oaks made the playoffs for the first time in two seasons. Crawford enters his sophomore campaign with reported offers from Southern University and Southern Miss, and the wideout is expected to be one of the team leaders this season.
“I expect it to be challenging because everything don’t supposed to come easy,” Crawford told KTAL. “So we have to work to win. I got faith in us to win the district championship.”1COMMENTS
And as for the newfound fascination with his name?
“I love the fame everyone’s giving me on social media,” Crawford says, “keep it going.”
