35 Year Old Mother Charged With Homicide As High Speed Chase From Police Leads To Death Of Her Teen Daughter! (Video)

An Atlanta mother accused of driving more than 100 mph and causing a crash that killed her 15-year-old daughter was booked into jail over the weekend, according to jail records.

Cinceria Elizabeth Cooke, 35, faces four felonies, including vehicular homicide, in the death of Aniyah Bynes, who died in the January crash along I-75 in Suwanee County, Fla. Her other charges include counts of fleeing police and having a driver’s license revoked for being a habitual offender.

About 1 a.m. Jan. 7, Cooke allegedly drove her Chrysler 300 at 103 mph on I-75 North near White Springs, which is about 30 miles south of the Florida-Georgia line, AJC.com previously reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol said she was driving “reckless” as she passed vehicles on the emergency shoulder, made improper lane changes and remained at more than 100 mph. She’s accused of not pulling over dispute several patrol vehicles chasing her with their emergency lights activated.

At one point, Cooke “abruptly exited the interstate” at the Fla. 47 exit only to get back on heading north, the FHP said. She got off the interstate again, this time at the County Road 136 exit. That’s when troopers said Cooke lost control of her car, hitting several pine trees on the interstate’s shoulder.

She was not wearing a seat belt, but both of her daughters were, authorities said. 

Aniyah Bynes was pronounced dead at the scene, while 17-year-old Clevia Bynes was taken to Lake City Medical Center with minor injuries. Cooke was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., with serious injuries.

Authorities have not said why Cooke was driving at such a high rate of speed before the chase began or why she did not pull over. AJC.com has reached out to the Florida Highway Patrol for more details on her charges.

A GoFundMe page created to raise money for Aniyah Bynes’ funeral costs describes the teen as a sweet and caring young woman. As of Tuesday afternoon, the page had raised nearly $3,000.

Cooke remains in jail on a $130,000 bond.
