Authorities in Alabama have brought a murder charge against a man who allegedly gunned down his sister during an argument. In a statement, the Hoover Police Department said the fatal March 15 incident happened outside a residence on the 700 block of Jasmine Way.

Authorities said officers responded to the address on the aforementioned date at 8:10 a.m., adding that prior to the shooting, Rosalind had gone to the residence “earlier in the morning and an argument ensued.”

Rosalind, 55, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds when the responding officers found her in the cul-de-sac outside the residence. She was later pronounced dead at the UAB Hospital. The reason behind the argument was not disclosed at the time of this report.

Authorities said that an off-duty law enforcement officer, who was around the scene and heard the gunfire, ultimately detained the suspect.

In the wake of the fatal incident, neighbors said that they heard six shots, AL.com reported. Authorities said the 40-year-old suspect is being held without bond. The fatal incident was said to be the first reported homicide case in Hoover this year.

In 2024, I remember when I reported that a Florida woman was fatally shot by her 14-year-old brother during an argument over Christmas gifts. Authorities said the 14-year-old who gunned down his sister was also shot by his teen brother a few seconds after the initial incident, NBC News reported.

The 14-year-old was ultimately arrested and charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and being a delinquent in possession of a firearm. His 15-year-old brother was also arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.
