MAN WHO MURDERED HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND ON FACEBOOK LIVE PLEADS GUILTY

ALouisiana man has pleaded guilty to murdering his ex-girlfriend following a standoff which was broadcast on Facebook Live. Johnathan Robinson, 36, originally denied murdering mother-of-three Rannita Williams at her home in Shreveport in April 2018, but changed his plea while appearing at Caddo District Court.

Williams made a desperate plea on Facebook Live while Robinson was holding her hostage armed with a rifle. During the live broadcast, Williams can be heard saying “Stop, Johnathan” while the suspect paces around the room.

“You wanna be famous? I’m gonna make you famous,” Robinson said during the recording. “Everybody wanna be famous, let’s be famous today.”

Robinson also fired shots at police who were attempting to get him to surrender during the standoff which lasted around 80 minutes.Ads by scrollerads.com

The video ends with several shots being fired, and the phone streaming the video falling to the ground. Robinson then stands over Williams’s body and says: “Now bitch, game over. Game over bitch.”

Robinson now faces life in prison plus 100 years without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to first-degree murder, reports Shreveport Times. Robinson also pleaded guilty to several other charges, including the attempted murder of police officers he fired at.

Following the guilty pleas, district attorney James Stewart said Robinson could have faced charges for the murder of two police officers.RELATED STORIES

“The officer who actually was shot [survived], and the first officer actually who drove up to the scene of the crime [could have been shot],” Stewart told NBC 6. “Thankfully she stopped short because if she would have driven up to the house she would have been killed.”

Stewart said he originally sought the death penalty for Robinson before changing his mind after speaking to the victim’s mother, Anita Williams. “Based off my conversations with her, I was willing to back off if he plead [guilty],” Stewart said.

“At the end of the day, the decision that was made was my decision,” Anita Williams added. “We feel a lot better. It hurts me. It hurts me so bad but killing Johnathan is not going to bring Rennita back. None whatsoever.”

Speaking outside the court, Anita Williams said she can now try and put the incident behind her following the “longest, longest, longest” few months of her life.

“I don’t have to worry about it no more,” she told NBC 6. “My baby can rest, and I’m glad.”
