A Twitter user in South Africa is facing backlash for recording and posting a video of himself nonchalantly listening to a woman, who he says is being killed by her husband, screaming.

Twitter user @officialYFMS posted the now-viral and ratioed video on Wednesday.

“My neighbour ouchea killing his wife in the early hours of the morning. I’m just ouchea minding my own bu’ness,” officialYFMS wrote.

The 18-second video shows officialYFMS caressing his beard against a clear, blue sky. The woman, who is out of the frame, can be heard violently screaming throughout. He fixes his glasses and directs a side-eye toward the assumed location of where the woman is being abused.

People aren’t just unnerved by the woman’s screams but also by the demeanor of the man. They are criticizing him for recording and posting the incident instead of calling for help at the time. I’m good?

“Imagine how relieved she would’ve felt seeing the police come in the door..being saved..helping a woman out..but you thought you wanted to be cute. the karma that will be on your ass will never rest,” Twitter user @capritarot wrote.

While some argued that he could make matters worse by intervening—he himself could be attacked or might make it worse for the victim–many were upset with his decision to upload the video.

“I still can’t believe this video. It’s one thing to sit back and decide it’s none of your business while a man kills his wife. It’s another to post a video of yourself calmly online listening to the whole thing. And with that caption too. How is this not psychopathic behaviour??” Twitter user @Ke_Neo_M wrote.

Another accused him of being a clout chaser.

“So the first thing you do when you hear someone screaming that is obviously is some sort of danger, you pull out your phone and record a video trying to be funny for Twitter…..instead of calling 911,” Twitter user @Dajah_Simonee wrote.
