Two teens in Illinois are being held without bond after they allegedly strangled, stabbed and set a man on fire before running him over — ruthless brutality “beyond imagination,” according to prosecutors.

Francisco Alvarado, 18, of West Chicago, and Tia Brewer, 16, of Wheaton, were denied bond by a judge in the killing of Luis Guerrero, 18, whose smoldering body was found early Tuesday by West Chicago Fire Department officials who were conducting a training exercise, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced Thursday.

Prosecutors allege Alvarado and Brewer set up a meeting with Guerrero near the West Chicago Public Library. Once there, Alvarado approached Guerrero from behind and strangled him with a belt. At the same time, Alvarado and Brewer allegedly stabbed Guerrero multiple times in the neck.

The pair then put Guererro’s body in their Jeep Cherokee before driving to a location on Joliet Street in West Chicago and removing it. Prosecutors said Alvarado and Brewer then contacted a third teen, Jesus Jurado Correa, of West Chicago, and told him to meet them there with gasoline.

Correa compiled with the request, giving the gasoline to Alvarado and Brewer at the scene before leaving. Prosecutors allege Alvarado and Brewer then doused Guerrero with gasoline before setting him on fire.

While he was ablaze, Guerrero got up and began running away, prompting Alvarado and Brewer to run him over with their Jeep. The couple then took Guerrero’s body to a fire pit on Joliet Street, where his body was again set on fire. A picnic table was also placed over the body, authorities said.

“The vicious brutality allegedly displayed by the defendants in this case is beyond imagination,” Berlin said in a news release. “I can’t begin to fathom the pain that Mr. Guerrero must have endured as his life was brutally taken from him.”

Alvarado and Brewer both face charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and concealment of a homicidal death. Correa, whose bond was set at $100,000, is facing one count of concealment of a homicidal death. All three suspects are expected to return to court on Sept. 13.

Guerrero was Brewer’s former boyfriend, according to the Chicago Tribune. She previously told Alvarado that Guerrero had raped her, but authorities have not found any evidence that Brewer reported the alleged attack, Berlin said.

If convicted on all charges, Alvarado and Brewer could face up to life in prison
